The Beaux in Woven Blue

I found this absolutely beautiful hand woven roll of leather in the woven factory next to mine in Italy... What’s particularly beautiful about this leather is the scale of the weave... This leather was originally white and woven. It was then dyed in this beautiful Klein-like blue. Dying after weaving allows for a beautiful, uneven mottled effect. When the weave stretches over the toe, the original white base and uneven blue come through...

These may be seen as imperfections, and possibly why this leather was left unused, but I love it. Sometimes I find a leather that I love and it sits there, sometimes for years, waiting to be used. This happens because it just didn't make sense with what I was doing at the time. With this leather, I made sure it would be used. This worried me, as forcing or pushing a leather onto a style can often result in a pointless shoe. In this case, I have to say, it all ended up making sense... Seeing the final result was a joy... This style in this weave grows on me every day...!

Again, like a clog, this style is short in the toe, but has volume. Voluminous rather than very wide (the sole is not especially wide). Roomy in the toes and width. The vamp line, which holds the shoe on the foot, is normal so a narrow foot can comfortably wear this shoe as well. The toe is surprisingly short and your foot should come to the end of the shoe so, if you have long feet, a half size up may be necessary...
