The Houdini! This is me caving in and doing a sports shoe. Never say never, but when it comes to doing a running/sports/sneaker/trainer shoe, I think I can almost say never... I don't want to say no to comfortable shoes — that to me is not what a sports shoe is — but it is what it has become. I also don't mind casual at all, I love it! I feel the category of fashion trainers has somehow overshadowed the traditional shoe. Mostly for reasons of financial margins. If the equation of: the highest retail price possible combined with as cheaply made as possible products, then overall quality of that product goes down... If this is applied to all the products in our lives, then the general quality of life goes down! It’s up to producers (in all fields) to produce the products we believe in to the highest quality and charge the prices that go along with our costs and not with how much can we charge. Obviously, I realise this is a very idealistic and simple idea of how we should produce, but if it was included in some kind of benchmark, then I would be happy. I feel this gap is getting bigger and bigger when really it should be getting smaller...
Sorry enough ranting...
This shoe boot is on a moccasin construction. You can bend it in half! The crepe sole is lightweight. Crepe does wear away and, therefore, the heel is totally replaceable. I can provide these when needed. There is a hidden rope pipping that runs along the crepe edge, making this shoe boot very hard-wearing. I wore these to test out and thought they came up big, but with wear and a sock, stomping around Paris for 2 weeks, they are actually perfect... Natural, black, inky vegetal tanned calfskin, upcycled white calfskin lining, but with a black facing so you can fold the ankle cuff down if you want...
FIT:
Generous in length and particularly in width. The look is oversized due to the large crepe sole. Zip does not have to be worn completely closed, as it will stop comfortably along the arch wherever is natural. (i.e. if you have a high arch you should be fine...!)
